Bill Rivers, DVM, PhD, DACVR
Dr. Bill Rivers graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. After an internship with Dr. Steven Ettinger in Los Angeles, he practiced general small animal medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area for the next several years. In 1993 he completed specialty training and a PhD in Radiology from the University of Minnesota.
Bill became board-certified in Veterinary Radiology by the American College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After being on staff at two veterinary schools and a private specialty practice, he established a Bay Area Consulting practice in 1989 and joined Nor Cal Vet in 2013 – from the very beginning – as our consulting radiologist. He has been published in numerous veterinary journals including Veterinary Clinics of North America, served as a reviewer for Veterinary Radiology and Ultrasound, and has lectured to both students as well as veterinary associations on various topics regarding diagnostic radiology.
Bill assists Nor Cal Vet doctors and technicians with the more advanced ultrasound examinations and complex x-ray studies. He has a particular interest in radiographic interpretation as well as both thoracic and abdominal sonography. Outside of his work with radiology, what little free time Bill finds himself with is given completely and wholeheartedly to his beloved wife.
