Sarah Grier, DVM

DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES

Dr. Sarah Grier
Born and raised in Ames, Iowa, Dr. Sarah Grier always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. And in 1998, after receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University, that vision became a reality.

Continuing her veterinary education, Sarah journeyed east to Canada, where she completed a one year small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College. From there she returned to the states, where she worked at a general practice in the Bay Area for two years.

Since 2001, Dr. Grier has worked as an emergency veterinarian throughout San Francisco, including positions at All Animals Emergency Hospital as well as San Francisco Veterinary Specialists. She has also worked as a relief general practice veterinarian in several hospitals including Avenues Pet Hospital and the San Francisco SPCA. And in 2013 she joined Nor Cal Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Hospital as Director of Emergency Services.

Outside of work, Sarah is married and is busy raising two kids and a not-always-well-behaved cat, Pickles. She is an avid supporter of her local public schools and businesses as well as a volunteer for her children’s school. If she has any time left over, you can find her with friends, running in the Panhandle, and enjoying a glass of red wine.
