Dr. Alex Herman
Dr. Alex Herman earned her BS in Drawing and Biology from the University of Minnesota in 1992, and her DVM in 1997 from UC Davis.

She started the exotic practice at All Pets Hospital in San Francisco, and has been providing veterinary care for all species at the Oakland Zoo for ten years.

Dr. Herman has a special interest in Avian, Exotic Reptile and Exotic Mammal medicine and surgery, and of course all beloved cats and dogs. She is an active member of the California Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians.

Dr. Herman does pro bono work for wildlife and volunteers for Street Outreach Services veterinary care. She also works part-time at the Oakland Zoo.

In her free time, Dr. Herman enjoys bicycling, camping, tending her large garden, and spending time with her husband, their son, one dog, one cat, and two tortoises.
